This week has been full of things to celebrate. Last Friday we learned about St Nicholas, and how he inspired today's Santa Claus. The real St. Nicholas would give gifts to children in need during his time. We reflected on the differences between the real St. Nicholas and Santa Claus, and St. Nicholas even left us all a treat in our shoes to find Monday morning!
Monday we celebrate the Immaculate Conception, so we learned about Mary and how she was the only one to be born without Adam and Eve's original sin, she was born with Grace. She was meant to be Jesus' mother.
Tuesday was the day that Mary first appeared to Juan Diego in Mexico in 1531 asking for a Church to be built on the spot where she appeared. The Bishop of Mexico City needed a sign, and he got that sign on today, December 12, when an image appeared in Juan Diego's cloak. We celebrate this day as Our Lady of Guadalupe Day.
Tomorrow is the feast day of St Lucy, who lost her life because she was a Christian in a time when it was dangerous to be. She dedicated her life to Jesus and we celebrate her for her great sacrifice.
Students have been enjoying learning about the different days during Advent, and their significance. We are working on our reflection journal, thinking about why these days are so important.
