Hard to believe that I am saying a week has gone by already! Although it was a short week it was packed full of activities. Here are a few things we have been doing!
We started the week by making towers out of spaghetti and marshmallows. You might have heard about it over the dinner table! It was a fun way to get students used to sitting in groups and working together right from day one.
I introduced a dice game to the class called "target." We roll one dice to tell us the target number, and then 4 others that we have to add or subtract to get as close to the target as possible. As the year goes on, we will make this more challenging adding multiplication and division to the operations we can perform!
I have just introduced Alberta for Social Studies. Starting next week we will be looking at the six geographical regions of Alberta, starting with the Grassland and the Parkland!
We learned some new vocabulary in French already! We have learned two song to help us remember the days of the week and the months of the year. If you are interested in hearing them at home, you can find them at the following links.

Finally, you may have heard about the T-shirts we are making! Students are creating a design on their t-shirt and will be pasting pictures or words that tell us something about them! Students are working on finishing their designs and have been asked to start collecting pictures or words from magazines or printing them from the internet at home. They will be given an opportunity to go to the computer lab next week and collect more pictures if they haven't done so already.
Something to mark your calendars for: Our class is responsible for putting on the School Opening Celebration on September 25th!
Hope you have all had a wonderful week!
