Our Voyageur paragraphs are coming along! We are working on finishing our good copy so they can go up on the wall next week! Our voyageur boats for Art are also almost finished! Just need to tie the sides of the boats together with string!
Next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we are challenging the grade 4's to try to bring a waste free lunch to school. Even I, myself bring items to school like granola bars, or yogurt containers that end up in the garbage. Since we have been thinking a lot about where our garbage goes, and ways that we can help the environment, we thought this would be a good challenge. We are going to have a separate grade 4 garbage so we can visually see the impact our efforts are making. Maybe we will even have one day with no garbage at all? We will see! Check back for updates next week!
In Social we have moved onto the Fur Trade! We are learning about the Hudson's Bay Company and the Northwest Trading Company, who hired voyageurs to travel the rivers East to West to trade goods for beaver pelts. We are going to be combining Social Studies with Language Arts over the next week, working on another job advertisement. Students will have to decide whether they work for the Hudson Bay Company or the Northwest Company and will have to write a job advertisement looking to hire voyageurs!
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a fantastic break!
We have moved on in math to patterns, and are learning how to increase patterns, and to figure out the patterns in charts and tables. We have spent the week learning about the stations of the cross, but also reading a story that goes along with these Resurrection Eggs. The thing I love about the eggs is that it is Jesus' story from when he rides into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the start of Holy Week. Ask the students to explain the significance of each egg to you!
